    Incredible
    Nothing
TJ and Paul are the most amazing hosts. From the second you arrive to the moment you drive out of their wonderful place you just feel so welcome that it is hard to drive away at all. The rooms are spacious, clean and very elegant. The garden in wonderful and in 2 minutes you are on the beach. Incredible views at sundown ! Breakfast is great. Also we enjoyed a wonderful dinner - TJ is quite a chef - do not miss that opportunity. They have just started their business, but it is hard to imagine to make anything any better. A must-stay when you are in the region !!

Great hosts... didnt even hesitate to get us late check out :-) even gave us whitebait to take home
    all was good
Breakfast was continental ( toast, jam, peanut butter, butter, honey or cereals, fruit and also 2 cooked eggs pp plus coffee tea orange juice/water) ... if you wanted cooked breakfast it was $20 extra but totally worth it! Amazing sausages .. also if you liked whitebait - it was a real whitebait patty :-)

    Perfection.
The little boat that goes across the river might get an upgrade (a rope stretched across, for example) so beach access would be faster.
The hosts, Paul and TJ, were as charming and helpful as anyone we've ever met at a B & B. We had the best rooms, the two that look out to the sea, and they were quite lovely: tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed and a great shower/bathroom. Because it was Christmas we got a fabulous dinner included in our price, and a lunch too, and TJ looked after our vegetarian kids perfectly. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were extravagantly good. Breakfasts outside on the deck facing the sea were also lovely: fresh eggs from their hens, great coffee, and toast and honey. Some of us are bird-watchers, and Paul was always ready to point out a tui, a bellbird, or the local wekas running around the lawn. The walk to the beach was a little longer than expected (though I knew from the photos to expect it -- you can't get to the beach until you get past the point where the river turns towards the sea), but when you get to the beach it is deserted, pristine, and beautiful, with gorgeous driftwood and no plastic bottles. We were lucky with the weather too; sunny and clear. Pied stilts and Australasian harriers were showing off. Paul swore there were small dolphins jumping, but all I saw was a splash. We explored the nearby pioneer town of Hokitikka (we were laboring through Eleanor Catton's The Luminaries at the time) and TJ recommended a great restaurant, Aurora. We found a lovely gallery (there were galleries all over; some beautiful, some tacky) and bought tasteful New Zealand postcards and souvenirs. We stayed two nights and could have stayed longer. Not many places like this. Thank you TJ and Paul, and good luck with your Marlborough dream. If you don't make it up there, Brackish Beach looks pretty good to us.

It’s not often you get such a unique and memorable stay at a B&B!! Don’t pass it up!
From the moment we arrived TJ and Paul were non-stop amazing! We were greeted with a complimentary drink which we enjoyed on the patio outside our cosy room. This overlooked the gorgeous garden and the beach beyond. TJ we found out is an excellent cook and offers to cook guests dinner (costs extra). We took up this exciting offer and our patio became almost like a little lovely outdoor restaurant for two! The food was incredible, as was the wine! I was also lucky enough to enjoy and outdoor evening bath with a view of the beach! TJ and Paul were very hospitable, fun and approachable, we had a very memorable time at Brackish.

Paul & TJ Very nice place but the most beautiful thing are Paul and TJ. Thank you so much for: - Generosity. - Atmosphere. - Delicious Dinner (Duck and Soup) - The gift that you gave my daughter. - Clean and comfortable palace like home. For sure we will come back to you in next trip

Staying here for three days with TJ and Paul was like a little slice of heaven. From the first moment of being greeted, seated outside with magnificent sea view and garden, and presented with an antipasti platter and wine we were enveloped in another world that was both personal and special. The all inclusive meal option over Christmas is highly recommendable (we took packed lunches out each day), and sitting with other guests very stimulating. More than that, the superb cooking and immaculate presentation by TJ is unsurpassable. She does it with love. Christmas stockings at our door, Christmas fireworks, fresh flowers on the beds on arrival or Petanque on the lawn are examples of the detail Paul and TJ go to to ensure comfort and fun for all. Close by are bush walks, Hokitika Gorge, lakes, glow worm cave and Hokitika, brochures at B&B. The Treetop Walk is 20 minutes drive. Or stay home and explore Brackish Beach. In any case your stay here will be hugely enhanced by the personalities of the hosts and the beautiful location.

    Magical place. Exceeded all expectations!
    Nothing. Everything was wonderful!
The hosts Paul and TJ are the most beautiful people! We were celebrating my birthday and they made the experience extra special - they even made me a bday dessert and gave me the most lovely necklace as a gift! The place itself is great- very clean, spacious, great views and the food is excellent! The best we have had in NZ so far! The location is also great. It is 10 min out of hokitika and a short walk to the beach - there are not many people around so it feels like your own private space. Really really loved it. It exceeded all of our expectations! We were sad we only had one night, but we will be back for sure! Thanks again guys!

    Too good to be true!
    Leaving!
Arrived as strangers, left as friends. Very comfortable, felt at home. TJ is an excellent chef, Paul is an excellent bar person 🍷🍻🍹🍸Fab location. Had all inclusive not just B&B which over Xmas was fantastic. The attention to detail by both TJ and Paul made this a very special break. Leaving a stocking with presents outside the rooms on Xmas morning is just one of several examples. Paul showed us how to pan for gold! They let us use their dinghy to float up the river. Did fireworks on Xmas Eve. Told us places to go that we wouldn't have thought about. We had an absolutely fantastic time and we can't praise Paul and TJ enough for making our stay so special! Best place we have EVER stayed at!!

TJ and Paul were incredible hosts, treating us to a drink on arrival, preparing a good breakfast (perfect soft boiled eggs!) and giving us a tour of the grounds which are beautiful. The rooms were very comfortable - one of the best beds we had in our one month stay in NZ.
